An inspiring evening

Tuesday night, Pyxis hosted a conference dinner with Diane Musho Hamilton at the Griffin Art Séguin Poirier gallery. The evening started off with an individual exercise. Participants were asked the following question: what are our intentions?
In fact, we had to reflect on our intentions in our daily communications be it at work and in our personal lives. To be able to communicate our intentions in one breath . . . Not an easy thing to do. The evening continued with Mrs. Hamilton’s engaging talk about our capacity to deal with conflict. With a few questions, participants were able to identify their conflict resolution style:

  • avoiding
  • accommodating
  • competing.

Having identified and being aware of our own style, we will be able to step out of our comfort zone next time we are facing conflict by taking on a different perspective instead of being afraid of it. By working on our capacity to deal with conflict, we support our growth as individuals. Next time you are in a conflicting situation, will you try to identify your style?
